The storyThe Seiko reference 6117-8000, launched in 1968, was the brand’s first GMT watch with a rotating bezel. Nicknamed the “Navigator Timer”, it’s one of those watches that’s part of every vintage Seiko collector’s toolkit. It’s an absolute classic in terms of design, with superb colors, presence and functionality.The PitchFor its new creation, Seiko Prospex has recreated the 1968 model that was Seiko’s first GMT to feature a rotating bezel. The new limited edition is as faithful as possible to the classic sporty design and compact dimensions that characterized the Navigator Timer of the late 60s. A five-row bracelet sparkles to complete the watch’s classic, luxurious look.The dial takes up the design of the Seiko logo from the original model and is set lower than the current logo. The GMT, hour and minute hands, as well as the indexes, also repeat the Navigator Timer design. This beautiful travel watch displays the time in three places at once. The caseback features a horseshoe-shaped design similar to that of the original model and displays the watch’s serial number.Technical side: a new GMT caliberThis Prospex features the brand-new Manufacture 6R54 self-winding caliber. It is based on one of the Japanese firm’s must-have movements, which is notably used in most of the brand’s watches: the 6R35. It beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a comfortable 72-hour power reserve, enabling you to alternate with your other watches without having to wind it systematically. But this new caliber also brings a new function: GMT!Its GMT hand can be set independently in one-hour increments without interrupting the local time hands, and allows the wearer to read, at a glance, the time in a second time zone.The packageThis watch dressed in its steel bracelet comes in a special case with a second brown leather strap fitted with a folding clasp.
