First appearing in 2007, this watch has been christened Sumo by many fans of the brand. Why the nickname? Perhaps it was its muscular appearance, or the shape of its bezel, which resembles the Dohyo, the ring where Sumo fights take place. But the name stuck, and this watch has become an icon in Diver’s Seiko collection! It is recognized as one of the most robust and reliable watches for divers.This new release inherits the 2007 design, but improves on it with the addition of a superb ceramic bezel and diashield anti-scratch coating on the case and bracelet to reduce the appearance of scratches and scuffs. The bracelet design is also new, with a reinterpretation of the design of so-called “oyster” bracelets, while the clasp has been modernized. Finally, this watch is a special “PADI Great Blue” edition. The dial of this model was inspired by the view of a diver underwater, when the sun reflects and shines on the surface.
