Description
Heir to the original Reverso from 1931, this new Reverso Classic Monoface Small Seconds revisits the Art Deco icon with a new “coin stack” guilloché pattern, a manual 822 caliber, and timeless elegance that strikes the perfect balance between heritage and modernity.Reverso Classic: An Art Deco Icon Since 1931Born in 1931 to meet a sporting challenge, the Reverso was imagined for British polo players seeking a watch capable of withstanding impacts without sacrificing elegance. Its patented reversible case (CH159982), designed to protect the glass during matches, perfectly embodies the union of technical ingenuity and aesthetic refinement.Very quickly, the Reverso left the polo fields to conquer the wrists of the most elegant men and women. Its rectilinear and symmetrical lines, geometric dial, and three signature gadroons made it an icon of Art Deco style and one of the great design achievements of the 20th century. For nearly a century, Jaeger-LeCoultre has continuously reinvented the Reverso: new sizes, complications, artistic interpretations… yet always faithful to its original identity. Each generation rediscovers in it a unique balance between tradition and modernity, heritage and innovation. The Reverso Classic Monoface Small Seconds follows in this lineage — a return to the origins through a contemporary lens. The Charm of the “Coin Stack” GuillochéRemaining true to the Reverso’s original spirit, this new Classic Monoface Small Seconds introduces a fresh interpretation of the dial.In a perfect balance between simplicity and refinement, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils a new “coin stack” guilloché pattern, whose fine relief evokes the edge of a delicately engraved coin. Appearing both at the center of the dial and on the small seconds subdial, this luminous decoration plays beautifully with light and texture, creating a rare sense of visual depth and elegance.Around this guilloché heart, the vertically brushed finish enhances the black Arabic numerals and minute track — aesthetic signatures of the Classic line. The polished stainless steel case reprises the timeless proportions of the very first Reverso from 1931 — 40.1 x 24.4 mm with a thickness of just 7.56 mm — offering a refined presence on both men’s and women’s wrists. With a simple motion, the case swivels to reveal its blank reverse side, a true canvas for personal expression — engraving, lacquer, emblem, or message, everything is possible. This customizable surface continues the creative tradition dear to La Grande Maison, transforming each Reverso into a truly unique piece. Finally, this edition is paired with a black calfskin strap crafted by Casa Fagliano, the renowned Argentine bootmaker celebrated for its craftsmanship and historical partnership with Jaeger-LeCoultre. Interchangeable, supple, and elegant, it complements the steel case in perfect harmony between authenticity and modernity.A Movement Shaped to FitBeyond its status as a recognized Art Deco design icon, the Reverso perfectly embodies Jaeger-LeCoultre’s horological philosophy. Based on the conviction that the form of a movement should follow that of its case, Reverso calibres are shaped in a tonneau form rather than the traditional round design. Even though the movements are often hidden, many of their components are meticulously hand-finished.This watch is powered by the manually wound Calibre 822. Like all Reverso movements, it takes on a tonneau shape that fits perfectly within the rectangular case of the Reverso Tribute Monoface.Faithful to the calibres of the 1930s, this movement is emblematic of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s spirit of innovation. Comprising 108 components and measuring just 2.94 mm thick, it displays exemplary finishing and features the signature bridge typical of the calibres made in the Vallée de Joux — reminiscent of a revolver silhouette with a sunray finish. It provides a 42-hour power reserve.
